OVERVIEW
Throughout my work on DocNow, I lead the end-to-end product development, from user research and service journey mapping to mobile app design and early-stage prototyping. I designed DocNow to solve real patient-provider matching challenges through intuitive UX, scalable systems, and a focus on accessibility.
CHALLENGE
Booking a doctor's appointment can be frustrating, especially for patients who have to call multiple clinics, wait on hold, or struggle to find a doctor accepting new patients. Many clinics still rely on outdated booking systems, leading to delays and missed opportunities.
SOLUTION
DocNow is designed to simplify this process. Patients aged 18 - 45 and up can easily search for nearby clinics, filter by specialty, and instantly request appointments as a new or returning patient. All without needing to call. Clinics can review patient requests, accept matches, and send quick digital forms to be filled out after confirmation, creating a faster, more efficient booking experience for patients and clinics.

3 MAIN INSIGHTS
System over service
Patients avoid walk-in clinics not by choice but because billing models reward family doctors for exclusivity, discouraging external visits and limiting timely access to care

DEFINING THE PROBLEM
How might we help patients quickly find and book appointments with clinics that match their care needs?
Make booking fast & flexible
Patients want to book appointments instantly without calling or waiting on hold. Many give up when clinics don’t offer a seamless appointment booking process that avoids long waits over the phone
Show which doctor is available and why
Patients need to see which doctors are accepting new patients, what languages they speak, and what services they offer. Lack of clarity leads to frustration and missed care
Help clinics manage incoming patients
Doctors and front desk staff report high no-show rates and time wasted on calls. Clinics need tools to screen and confirm patients efficiently
